The UNM Art Museum’s Education department seeks to bring visitors and works of art together in meaningful ways. Because our guests range in age from toddlers to seniors, come from diverse backgrounds, and seek varied experiences from art, our education programs are flexible, while being grounded in experiential, interactive and inquiry-based learning theories. The UNM Art Museum offers a menu of choices for University and K-12 classes, and community groups:
- Guided and Self-guided visits
- University and high school internships
- Evenings for Educators
- Professional Development Workshops
All group visits (of 10 or more) to the Museum must be booked in advance, including self-guided visits. This enables us to best provide high quality experiences for all visitors. To schedule your visit, please e-mail email@example.com at least 2 weeks prior.

K-12: Public, Private and Home school
Imagine the light in your students’ eyes as they look closely at a rare, 19th century tintype of civil war soldiers, and watch history come alive. Listen to a teen’s empathic response to Native American artist Jaune Quick-to-See Smith’s work, “The artist showed me the way we feel inside when we are being treated differently because of our race.” What happens in the UNM Art Museum changes students’ lives.
