The UNM Art Museum Director Search Committee has invited two additional candidates to campus to give a public lecture at the Museum and following the lecture the UNM Art Museum will host a reception with the candidate. These events are open to the public and we hope that you can join us as we prepare to usher in a new era at the museum. Each candidate will speak about the role of collaboration in museums or in the arts. All events will be at the UNM Art Museum. Candidate #5 information will be announced prior to their lecture/reception.
Arif Khan has 14 years of experience in contemporary visual arts organizations and art museums. He has expertise in the fields of museum administration, fundraising, collections management, exhibition development, museum education and strategic planning with contemporary artists. Arif was Gallery Director at Tamarind Institute, Albuquerque, NM; Curator of the Governor’s Gallery, New Mexico Museum of Art, Santa Fe, NM; and Artist Coordinator for the Southwestern Association for Indian Arts, Santa Fe, NM. He holds a BA in History from Lawrence University, Appleton, Wisconsin; MA in American Studies from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque; and an MA in Art Business from the Sotheby’s Institute, London, UK. In 2012 Arif completed The Getty Leadership Institute’s “Museum Leaders: The Next Generation (NextGen)” professional development program.
